Afar Dallol Drilling Project, Afar region
- Status: After the first field expeditions,
a first strategic and exploratory workshop has been organized in
January 2015 in Addis to trigger future drilling initiatives
focusing on the carbonate and evaporitic deposits in the Danakil
Depression. In autumn 2016, a follow-up workshop was organized in Fribourg (Switzerland)
to compile a full ICDP proposal with Anneleen Foubert (University of Fribourg) as lead proponent.
